Loved reading this Claire! I’m a product designer so of course this is super interesting, but I’m also almost 5 years into working at the same startup so it’s great to read about your thoughts and intuitions being somewhere for so long. I hope you enjoy the time to reflect, and thank you for all the work you did to make Figma such a fantastic product!
Loved it, was such a nice and thoughtful read. As a designer, reading the first few points made me happy, including the details of the 8-point grid :) and I remembered when I worked as a designer I always “battled” with the marketer, and just loved this part
“I learned to read their energy; killing ideas they weren’t excited about and doubling down on seemingly minor features that sparked their interest.”
as well as all the honesty and humility throughout the post.
So many points are relatable and can be applied outside of the marketing context, thank you for sharing :)
A lot of things the themes resonates with me, given my five years at Miro, scaling it from a niche product to 50M users, and growing my team bigger than the size of the organization I’ve join.
Thank you so much for taking time to reflect and share this!
Good luck with your next chapter and please enjoy the writing!
This was fascinating! I’m a designer working on Figma in a not-so-small company that has similarities to Figma, and there’s always something about it’s marketing that was so different and bold and tailored perfectly to it’s audience, that was so hard to dissect (or implement in other companies I worked at) so this post was spot-on.
Loved reading this! Will take these notes into my PMM career
yay!
congrats!!
And thanks for sharing your amazing insights.
